C20th Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn's last movies were especially popular in Europe, and her sacking from Something's Got to Give gave many magazines a great opportunity for a cover feature. Her apparent suicide on 5th August 1962 resulted in many investigative features, resulting in a rash of covers in the mid 60s, many of which we will feature on this site.

PARIS MATCH : 13th February 1960

Marilyn Monroe shares the cover of this French magazine with Let's Make Love co-star Yves Montand. Inside is the first part of a huge feature telling "the true story of Marilyn", this issue covering her childhood, discovery and first part of her career. More serious than a fanzine, Sight & Sound was aimed at the serious film-goer, and therefore had a smaller circulation than many other British publications of the time. Marilyn appears on this cover in a scene from Let's Make Love, which is reviewed inside. SOLD
