Gilbert & Sullivan
a selling exhibition of memorabilia
ARCHIVE INDEX

Items on the archive pages have mostly (but not exclusively) already sold. Although it is not the main aim of this site to be educational, the programmes and other memorabilia I have sold in the past form an interesting record which some researchers may find useful. The items (mostly programmes, and generally from the early C20th or earlier) are presented in categories, thus forming a series of pictorial biographies which, although not necessarily complete, give an overview of the careers of Gilbert, Sullivan & D'Oyly Carte.

Early items which are currently for sale will be found here on the site.

A series of programmes presented in date order, including revivals of the operas, but only covering West End productions. Variant programme covers are included, along with some information about variant casts.

A complete list of Sullivan's work for the theatre, as well as some other aspects of his composing career, illustrated with relevant memorabilia. Works with Gilbert are only represented by a single programme for each production.

A complete list of productions at the Savoy Theatre, including cast changes and variant programme covers where illustrations are available. Also, details of some of the early touring companies and productions prior to the opening of the Savoy.

Other items

A mixed bag of other interesting memorabilia, including records of extra-curricular work by key Savoyards, early souvenirs etc etc.

Character heralds
